I am excited about the calling on this ministry, Elpis Ministries, Inc. ("Elpis" being Greek for "Hope"). This organization has been birthed to "restore hope" by transforming lives! Mission driven, we focus on individuals and families coping with issues that delay personal growth.
Elpis Ministries, Inc. works to provide much needed programming and resources, which in turn establishes platforms of proven means to transform lives.
Because a tool for change entails "cultivating and building relationships", mentoring allows us not to just assist in obtaining needed resources, but it allows us to help individuals and families deal with the "root" of issues and cope with matters of the heart. By offering guidance, compassion, encouragement and empowerment, we see lives affected by those who desire greater levels of outcomes in life.
In the study of "hoplessness", you find that individuals arrive at this place due to lack of knowledge, support resources, will and determination. As a result, hardships, challenges, circumstances and situations get out of control beginning to consume one's life. It's been too often that individuals have been told "what their problems are and how to solve them". This answer has been given without any assistance or guidance. After being told "no", time and time again...frustration occurs and individuals find themselves living in a place of "hoplessness".
With this being their reality -- our organization work with individuals by identifying and eradicating barriers that prevent them from living self sufficiently, or up to their fullest potential. In the process of mentoring, we are building these relationships with individuals and families to help develop skills, behaviors and insights to improve one's quality of life. By exerting a positive influence in change...motivation, performance and bringing awareness in areas of strength and improvement, we are able to see lives transformed.
We operate of the character of Christ. We do not convert, proselytize nor influence in faith, but we operate out of our faith, believing that all individuals should live whole ans satisified lives, with our responsibility to "bear the infirmities of the weak". We meet individuals were they are on their journey, and work with them intensly by removing constraints to move them to a place of self sufficiency, improving their quality of life with the desired vision of seeing individuals completely "whole"; emotionally, physically, socially, financially and spiritually.
Currently, the ministry has several different programs and services that have become very beneficial to the community and to those we serve. With many collaborating agencies, we are able to identify and meet the needed resources of those who desire services. We also outsource our programming to individuals who are a part of the Department of Corrections, Department of Human Services, Spectrum Resources Re-Entry Program, Bridges of Iowa, House of Mercy, Ft. Des Moines and Women's Correctional Facilities, Des Moines Public Schools, MYFI Project, Freedom House and many other transitional and housing programs.
We are excited and committed to what God is accomplishing through us! Join us as we take a journey into the work that God has ordained our hearts and hands to do, for those who have found themselves "voiceless" and living in "hopelessness" as we "restore hope" again, moving them from the "hope so...to the know so"!
